Also I've seen a guy kill a Polar Bear with a shotgun then buying the Punt Gun he did this...

Magnum -> Shotgun -> Punt Gun (Punt Gun is unlocked at beginning of Turtle level)
That was probably me

I mostly use Shotgun -> Minigun/Punt when Im playing alone but when Im playing online I use Magnum -> Shotgun -> Punt Gun

EDIT: Note this is an old post.

MP5 -> Carl Gustav -> Minigun

This tactic is very good, the game is easy all the way and you get minigun against the walrus =)

There's also an another 3 Player strategy.

Player 1 : MP5 - M79 - Carl Gustav
Player 2 : Magnum - Shotgun - Minigun
Player 3 : MP5 - AWP

Everyone should have Land Mines. This strategy works also as 2 Player Strategy with Player 1 & 2.

The Extreme Brick Wall

Player 1: MP5 -> Dual MAC -> Carl Gustav-> Minigun
Player 2: MP5 -> Dual MAC -> Carl Gustav -> Land Mines

To do this tactic you need long experiance of the game! But when you are on it. ITS MOTHA FUKKIN HARDCORE

I guess it could be possible if you both double penetrate them:)

However it's impossible for both to go MP5 -> CG before Polar boss.

My old strategy that most people know me for is using

Grenades -> Minigun

its not that hard imo as grenades are easy for me to use :P but you must be playing in 3p or 4p game otherwise its a no go :) 3p might be hard on polar bears unless you can manage the cash well for your partners to have good weapons by then. grenades on penguins is really a killer, ive cleared a 4p difficulity's penguin boss with 2 grenades by myself so yea :)

being too lazy to use that technique anymore, ive picked up on

Magnum -> Shotgun -> Minigun (or u can go for Punt Gun quickly when about to lose if you havent reached teh minigun yet)

this one works really well in 1p, 2p, 3p, 4p. with some practice its really cake after a while :)

The "Noob" Technique

Player 1: Normal pistol -> Minigun

Player 2: Normal pistol -> Minigun

If someone complete this one, I clap to them....

^^ Couldnt find better signature, forgive me :)

I always use my "Average Joe" tactic:
Magnum -> M79 -> Minigun.
It works pretty well ;)...
But it's only for NOOBS like me ;D.
What do you need to do if you see a walrus...

This tactic is the best in 2 player:
Player 1:500-2500-9000
Player 2:1000-7500
When I'm playing alone I usually goes:
500-2500-12500
It works very good if u want to get high damage ;)
