Sealhunter Tactics!
« on: April 17, 2009, 05:43:35 PM »
In this thread you can post all of your tactics you use to finish the game! Which one scores the most? Both 1 and 2 player..

So basically you can share with the rest of us which weapons you use, and when.... ;D

Thanks to Gifflo for the Idea  ;)

This are the tactics that I've completed the game in 2 player mode:

The Colt(m4a1) / minigun tactic (medium)
Player 1: revolver(500$) - Minigun(12'500$)
Player 2: revolver(500$) - M4A1(6000$)

The Colt(m4a1) / Sniper tactic (easy)
Player 1: revolver(500$) - M4A1(6000$) - AWP(7500$)
Player 2: revolver(500$) - M4A1(6000$) - AWP(7500$)

The Seal hunter game tactic (Medium)
Player 1: revolver(500$) - Grenade Launcher(5000$) - Minigun(12500$)
Player 2: Grenade(1500$) - AWP(7500$)

The beginners tactic (easy)
Player 1: MP5(1000$) - M4A1(6000$) - AWP(7500$)
Player 2: Revolver(500$) - M4A1(6000$) - Minigun(12500$)

The Hardcore tactic (nightmare) - haven't completed this tactic yet  ::)
Player 1: Revolver(500$) - M4A1(6000$)
Player 2: Revolver(500$) - M4A1(6000$)

I might have missed some tactics but that's the main tactics we've been playing with :)

One of the more hardcore and funnier tactics I've tried out is the following. (Since Luskan pretty much mentioned most of the tactics that works, I spontaneously couldn't come up with anything much better than the following)

Radical Shit (Yes, that's the name of it)
Player 1: Grenade launcher (5000$) - Mainly whatever, Suggestable is the Minigun (12500$)
Player 2: Revolver / MP5 (500$/1000$) - M4A1 (6000$) - Vintage Shotgun (10000$)

This tactic is based on that you balance up the cash before the penguins arrive. Doing all the Penguins with the Pistol and Revolver / MP5 might be kinda hard. And ofc this tactic is bendable in many ways, but this is the base of it to begin with.
And thx Oskar for the thread ;)!

Thanks for the thought! Seeing as discussing tactics seemed to be a hot topic, I decided to open up a dedicated forum section for this. Feel free to create topics for every single weird strategy you might think of without fretting!

Nice tactics, and I agree that part of the charm of the game is to find weird combos that work out.

In single player, my patented Hand Grenades ($1500) to Vintage Shotgun ($10000) has so far yielded a high score of 221878 and I challenge anyone to beat that with any other tech.

Hand Grenades ($1500) -> M4A1 ($6000) -> Minigun ($12500) is also Single Player classic that makes level 5 and the walrus a cakewalk (although you have to kill the turtle with grenades). I think this is the easiest 1p tech, right guys?

Shotgun ($2500) -> Minigun ($12500) is doable (hard coded to be doable, actually ;)) but very difficult in 1p.

In 2 player mode, just about any tech is possible. Asker and Glufse have beaten the game using double Magnum ($500) -> Minigun ($12500), for example (proving how overpowered the magnum really is)

The real "nightmare-mode" for 2p would probably be:
Player 1: Magnum -> Sniper rifle
Player 2: MP5
I believe this would be possible with player 2 only hunting penguins and activists starting on level 4 and player 1 one-shotting all the fatties. I'll have to try it with asker the next time we see each other.

Nice Rashban ;)! Seems like some awesome tactics you've got there, eventho I've already tried most of them, The one below would probably be some great fun!
Player 1: Magnum -> Sniper rifle
Player 2: MP5

Not to forget the Magnum ($500) -> Minigun ($12500), but is this really doable? I've done the

Player 1: Magnum ($500) -> Minigun ($12500)
Player 2: Magnum ($500) -> M4A1  ($6000) -> Minigun ($12500)

But is it really doable to do it without the M4A1? Just going both straight on the 12,5? Seems like a fun tactic tho, gonna try it out real soon.

I dont know if that is doable, my dear friend.
It would be really a challenge to kill the polar bears if both players use the Magnum. But we will give it a try, for sure  ;D

Dual Magnum to dual Minigun is possible but the polar bears are impossible with dual magnums AFAIK. You figure out the rest ;)

Finishing the game with sniper rifle + MP5 hasn't been done but I think it would be possible since there aren't that many polar bears, and the only real danger is diving penguins.

Yeah, It seems doable, but damn that would be hard. However, we will definitely give it a shot.
And please excuse my noobishness, but what does AFAIK mean?

Yours, still truly

Me and Oskar just made up a new tactic named The Insta-Swarm

Player 1: revolver(500$) - Vintage Shotgun(10000$)
Player 2: revolver(500$) - Sniper(7500$)

However, we managed to complete it while Player 1 bough mp5(1000$) instead of revolver but i should definitely be possible with the revolver. The result was disappointingly just about 350'000 score  :-\

Regarding low scores from low-tech weapons: you don't get many gibs with magnum dual magnum, and you probably don't keep the enemies far enough to the left. The loss of the early-game score due to these factors probably contributes to lower scores. It would probably score higher to go:
Player 1: Shotgun -> Vintage shotgun
Player 2: Grenades -> Sniper rifle, or maybe Magnum -> Grenade Launcher

early-game = lvl 1 & 2 ?

Got our highest score (396000) from:
Player 1: revolver -> minigun
Player 2: revolver -> M4A1

We've tried many different tactics including grenades in early-game but it never results in good score.

Me and Gurra usuly goes

MP5--> Sniper
MP5--> Minigun

it´s easy and you don´t need to spend the money on a M4A1.

maybe it´s better to go revolvers, we haven´t used them a lot.

Another tactic me and Smittahh have used is having the same weapons but boosting one of us to Minigun.

What we do is we simple both get MP5 so we can do somewhat dmg. Then one of us take over and kill EVERYTHING! with this the one being boost gets Minigun before the polarbears come while the other one will have MP5 and not much more. Its kinda of a hardcore tactic we discovered it when just having fun. I started a 2p game and started killing but smittah didnt join in until lvl 2 and we just went with it... failing on the walrus by about 2-3 minigun rounds =/.

And ofc when one gets the Minigun the other one starts killing^^ Smittah had enough money for the Sniper in the end.

Another one is a lot simpler but very... goory:
MP5 ->Minigun -> Sniper
MP5 -> Sniper -> Minigun
= Carnage ;)
